tumblr discourse has taken the very important, very crucial point that adults should not sexualize teenagers and taken it to this regressive extreme that we should not acknowledge teenagers’ sexuality and instead pretend as if teens are these pure, neutered children and clutch our pearls at any suggestion they might have sexual interests of their own
if you interact with youth as a guardian, counselor, teacher or what have you, that whole mentality can ACTIVELY cause damage bc those teens RELY on you for guidance. one of the worst reactions you can have is to start shaming or moralizing them for their sexuality. and from a political stand point, the idea teens don’t need access to sex ed, contraceptives or other resources bc their being sexual is unnatural = quite literally a conservative hot take
people wonder why i want sex work decriminalized. because when an adult consents to sex in exchange for currency, i deserve to be protected if im assaulted. if i agree to set terms and a client violates me, they should be prosecuted without me or other sex workers fearing for our own freedom
now i cant do anything. i just have to block his number, keep doing survival sex work and pray i dont get hurt anymore.
